Get on the boat, hear the nature, leave your mark,
see Harakka and meet Vellamo!
The summer of Annantalo takes you in the middle of water
– puddles, lakes and the sea. On the Rock -exhibition takes you on to an island!
There is a lot happening on the island and around it: you can paint with water, look at silhouettes, dress as an isopod and marvel at the Baltic Sea. Tuula Närhinen’s Groteskit (‘Grotesques’) photo series features imaginative figures emerging from the rocks. In the animation Veteen pudonnut viiva (‘Line Fallen into the Water’), children’s stories meld into a work created together. Produced by the Harakka Nature Centre and Annantalo, the exhibition dives into the richness, beauty and incredible soundscape of the archipelago environment. The soundscape for the exhibition was created by Janne Storm.
The exhibition is divided into an interactive front gallery downstairs with stations where you can try out and do things yourself, as well as an atmospheric back gallery, where you
can watch and listen.
See you On the Rock!
In co-operation with Annantalo and Harakka Nature Centre.
The exhibition is part of the Helsinki Biennial Inspired series. It got its inspiration from Helsinki Biennial’s title ‘The Same Sea’ and its content. Helsinki Biennial is an international visual arts event that brings outstanding contemporary art to Helsinki every two years. The first Helsinki Biennial will be held in the unique surroundings of Vallisaari from 12 June to 26 September 2021.
The exhibition is open during the opening times of Annantalo.
