Egypt of Glory

The Last Great Dynasties
Fri 9.10.2020 – Sun 21.3.2021
Egypt of Glory
Amos Rex's extensive exhibition on ancient Egypt will take you on a journey back in time thousands of years to the Egypt of pharaohs.

At the exhibition, you get to explore the annual cycle, worldview, religion and state structure of ancient Egyptians, along with their everyday items. The exhibition includes, for example, ancient sandals, old tax receipts and Books of the Dead. Each item in the exhibition carries a unique story. The rich culture uncovered through archaeological excavations is still present in our everyday lives: for example, the 365-day calendar and its division of the year into 12 months, was used already in ancient Egypt. It’s no wonder then that the glory of Egypt continues to shine, even after thousands of years.

Exhibition is based on the Museo Egizio’s collection, the largest collection on Egyptian art and culture outside of Egypt.

You can explore the exhibition with the help of our discussion guides and a small museum friend book called My Ancient Egyptian Friends, which includes characters who introduce the exhibition to both children and adults. The friend book is included in the price of the entrance ticket.

You can also book a guided tour or an art workshop for your group.

Content disclaimers: the exhibition addresses death and displays deceased in the form of mummies.

Do you want to visit the museum with a larger group of pupils? During opening hours, the size of groups has been limited to 15 persons. We offer you the possibility to visit the exhibition on Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9 am to 11 am before the museum opens for the public. We only have a limited number of timeslots to offer, please contact Amos Rex bookings for more information.
