FINAL REHEARSAL: Fiori di fiori

Susanna Mälkki / Garrick Ohlsson
Wed 20.11.2019 10:00
Garrick Ohlsson
Kuvaaja: Dario Acosta
Francesco Filidei has been inspired by the liturgical compositions of Girolamo Frescobaldi, organist at St. Peter’s Cathedral in the early 17th century. The soundscape of Fiori di fiori is created by the secondary sounds produced when playing the organ: the clicks of the bellows and valves and the patter of the instrument. Garrick Ohlsson, winner of the International Chopin Competition in 1970, is renowned for his interpretations that combine athleticism with gossamer lightness. This concert presents a piano concerto from Mozart’s late period in a key the composer reserved for his most triumphant works.
